I've painted on and off over the years. I started with small landscapes when I was about 10.
At 14, I painted a huge mural of a sailing ship for St. Clement of Rome's fair. At 17, I painted a 12'x6' replica of the inside cover of Pink Floyd's The Wall for a friend on his bedroom wall. In college, my major was painting/illustration. It was then a fellow painted asked me, "What do you call your style?" I replied after a few seconds, "Industrial surrealism."
In graduate school I switched over to 3D computer graphics after the first sememster. Though I went "full steam ahead" with CG, I always counted on painting as therapy, especially when I've had too much computer time. I picked up the brush and painted, as it gave me a good balance between digital and analog.
